aerobel, the story behind

aerobel was first just a loose collaboration of a small group of modelmakers who had all the same ambition: Design and build a series of flying model aircrafts difficult to obtain or not available at all on the market.

The first project was a small version of the Breitling Super Constellation which was one of the most beautiful commercial aircraft equipped with 4 engines. This aircraft was chosen as the last airworthy original aircraft of this type has its base in Switzerland, thus facilitating to us the construction of a model kit. Still, it was a challenge for us to realize this aircraft model considering the fact that the outer shape with its three characteristic vertical tails is quite complex.

In the meantime, the Super Constellation model aircraft has been realized and is available for sale. While the market offers more and more models made of plastic, we want to set an antipole by proposing models made of wood, the traditional material for flying model aircrafts.

In the meantime, aerobel has put on the market the Pilatus PC-21 as its second model aircraft. It is also entirely built of wood and captivates by its elegant shape. Right from the start, it has appealed to our customers and is also offered by a number of specialized shops selling model aircrafts.

For those who want to know what to expect in the future: We do not only work on a giant version of the Pilatus PC-21 but also on a number of other aircrafts difficult to obtain or not available at all on the market at the present time. Let us surprise you in due time.

We intend to stick to our philosophy to offer models made of wood only. We leave it to other manufacturers to build their models with foam and other plastic materials.

We encourage you to look in on our web page from time to time in order to stay up to date. You will not be disappointed.
